Prime Minister Narendra Modi has invited global investors and aviation industry leaders to become long term partners in India’s rapidly expanding civil aviation sector, outlining a vision that combines large scale infrastructure growth with sustainability, innovation and energy transition. Addressing an international aviation gathering, he said India’s aviation transformation presents significant opportunities across airlines, airports, manufacturing and emerging green technologies.
Over the past decade, India’s aviation landscape has undergone a structural shift, evolving from a limited network into one of the world’s fastest growing air travel markets. Passenger volumes have surged, airline fleets have expanded sharply and airport infrastructure has seen sustained investment. Modi said this growth has been driven by policy consistency, improved ease of doing business and a focus on regional and international connectivity.
The Prime Minister emphasised that India is no longer only a consumption market for aviation but is steadily building a complete aviation ecosystem. He encouraged global players to invest not just in airports and airlines, but also in aircraft manufacturing, maintenance repair and overhaul facilities, aviation services and advanced mobility solutions. According to him, these segments offer long term value as India strengthens its domestic capabilities and reduces reliance on imports.
A key highlight of the address was India’s ambition to emerge as a producer and exporter of green aviation fuels. Modi said sustainable aviation fuel will play a critical role in the future of global air travel and India is positioning itself to become a reliable supplier as airlines worldwide seek to lower carbon emissions. He linked this push to India’s broader clean energy strategy and its commitment to climate goals.
The Prime Minister also spoke about future technologies including electric aircraft, urban air mobility and next generation aviation systems, noting that innovation will define the next phase of global aviation growth. He said India’s scale, skilled workforce and expanding demand make it an ideal testbed for such technologies.
India’s aviation sector continues to benefit from rising domestic travel demand, aggressive aircraft acquisition by airlines and expanding regional connectivity under government supported programmes. Airport modernisation projects and new greenfield airports are further strengthening the country’s aviation infrastructure backbone.
By calling on global investors to participate in this journey, Modi underlined India’s intent to become a central pillar of the global aviation ecosystem. He described the sector’s growth trajectory as a long term opportunity for strategic collaboration, sustainable investment and technological partnership that can shape the future of aviation while supporting economic development.
